Dr. Hunker attended Gannon University for his undergraduate education, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Biology. He then earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia. Dr. Hunker completed externships at a Veterans Affairs Hospital, a large multi-specialty ophthalmology group, as well as multiple facilities around Pittsburgh.
During that time, he developed a passion for specialty contact lenses and completed the Advanced Studies program in Contact Lenses. Dr. Hunker has extensive training in disease management including but not limited to dry eye syndrome, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic eye care. In addition, he is qualified to co-manage surgical procedures. He is a member of the American Optometric Society, the Pennsylvania Optometric Society, and the Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society.
Dr. Hunker resides in the north hills of Pittsburgh and in his spare time enjoys golfing, watching Pittsburgh sports teams, and spending time with family and friends. He looks forward to addressing all of your visual needs with a personalized approach.
